EDITOR’S CORNER
From a cover story about downtown Vancouver’s coming second wave of redevelopment to tips on howto sell a house in a shifting Clark County market, this issue of The Columbian B2B is meant to give readers news they need to know about and self-help news they can use.
When we added up the projects either in construction or planned for downtown Vancouver, we were surprised to fi nd that the value totaled more than $360 million. (See our list and map inside.) Complementing the project story, business writer Jonathan Nelson surveyed downtown business people about what they want to see happen next. Redesigning Main Street was big on their list.
Our newest staff member, business writer Paul Craig, looked into the challenges facing obstetricians in Clark County including the skyrocketing cost of liability insurance. Some have left their practices because of the fi nancial burden.
“Retirement Lies We Tell Ourselves” is a news-you-can-use story written by our talented freelance writer, Eric Apalategui. He talked with local fi nancial advisers who shared their Top 10 lies. This story, by the way, is not just for readers over 40.
Also in this issue, business writer Courtney Sherwood tells us how and where to recycle a computer. And for a change of pace, we profile Vancouver’s Chevs of the ‘40s, a business that sells collectible Chevrolet car and truck parts worldwide.
We enjoyed reporting and writing these and other stories for the November-December issue of B2B. Our hope is that you like them, too.
All the best, Julia Anderson
